County leaders to convene Aug. 11 in Rusk

RUSK – County leaders will convene 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, in regular session to discuss extension of a burn ban issued the previous week, along with the following agenda items:

• Presentation of a monthly report from Sheriff Brent Dickson

• Consider approval of generator proposals for Sheriff’s Department

• Consider signing Order of Election for Nov. 3 General Election

• Consider approval for the Auditor’s Office to conduct an audit on all Chapter 59 Forfeiture Funds as required by Article 59.06 (g)(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure

• Consider approval for imposition of optional fees for Calendar Year 2027 for Texas Department of Motor Vehicles

• Consider approval of 2026 Tax Roll Items as follows: No-New Revenue and Voter Approval Tax Rates, Collection Rates, Discounts, Presentation of Certificates of Railroad Rolling Stock Value

• Consider approval of the following consent agenda:

– Consider approval of line-item transfer (L26012) for Precinct 2 to allow for the amendment of funding from Equipment Purchase & Expense to Grease & Gasoline

– Constable Activity Report for July 2026 – Precinct 3

– Monthly Report for Jack L. White, Pct. 2 Constable

– Request for Certificate of Exemption from the Subdivision Regulations by Douglas Alan Westfall and Deea Lynne Western

– Final Plat creating Lot No. 1, Block No. 1, of Harmon Subdivision, in the John Engledow Survey, Abstract No. 16, Cherokee County, Texas. There are no new roads.

– Final Plat creating Lot No. 1 and Lot No. 2 of the Grove at 346 Subdivision and a 0.552-acre private access easement road for the benefit of Lots 1 and 2, in the John Jordan Survey, Abstract No. 27, Cherokee County, Texas. The 0.552-acre private access road is to be maintained by the Owners of Lot No. 1 and Lot No. 2.

– Final Plat creating Lot No. 1, Block No. 1, of Dover Subdivision, in the Brooks Williams Survey, Abstract No. 55, Cherokee County, Texas. There are no new roads.

– Consider laying utility lines in each precinct.
