City of Rusk posts late June meetings
Community Town Hall
The City of Rusk will host a 6 p.m. community town hall meeting Monday, June 29, 2026, to introduce top finalists in its police chief selection process. Finalists will address the audience, then engage with the public in separate sessions at city hall, according to Interim City Secretary Victoria Minton.
Candidates met Friday in interview sessions with different review groups.
REDCO, Rusk City Council
The Rusk Economic Development Corporation will convene jointly with the Rusk City Council in a special 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday, June 30, 2026, to discuss alleged overdue payments owed by the City of Rusk to REDCO, including receipt of a financial report regarding the alleged payments and related financial records, according to meeting agendas for both entities.
An executive session to “consult with legal counsel regarding legal issues, potential litigation, claims, liabilities, settlement options and strategy concerning alleged overdue payments between the City of Rusk and REDCO" are also on the agenda. Action – if any – will be taken after they reconvene into open meeting, per Texas Government Code.
The joint meeting will be held at Rusk City Hall, located at 116 E. 5th St., on the downtown square.
