Troup, Alto, J’ville offer summer food programs
Summer feeding programs are underway in Troup and Alto, with organizations providing free meals for school-age youths in these areas.
Troup Community Food Pantry launched its program May 28, and will continue until Aug. 6, offering nutritious meals in conjunction with the East Texas Food Bank, from 4-6 p.m. every Thursday at the Troup pantry located at 202 E. Duval St.
Alto ISD’s Healthy Summer Meals for Kids began June 1 and will be offer weekdays through June 18 at the AISD cafeteria.
Breakfast is offered from 7:15-7:45 a.m., while lunch is dished up from 11:30 a.m. to noon, for children ages 18 and younger and for enrolled students up to age 21 with disabilities. The program is offered through the Texas Department of Agriculture and USDA.
In Jacksonville, Seminary Heights Church of Christ has partnered with East Texas Food Bank to provide free meals for all school-age kids, every Tuesday from 4-5:30 through Aug. 4 at 1208 Arnold St. Boxes containing a week’s worth of breakfast and lunch foods will be distributed while supplies last. Child must be present when picking up food.
