Four area municipalities to conduct May 2 general election

Four cities in Cherokee County will conduct May 2 general elections from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the following locations:
• Alto City Hall, 404 W. San Antonio St. Keili Taylor and incumbent candidates Carey Palmer, Shamonica Johnson and Elpressely Thacker are seeking three at-large seats on the Alto City Council.
• Jacksonville Public Library, 526 E. Commerce St. Challenger Katrina Choice is running against incumbent candidate Letitia Jones Horace for the District 1 Jacksonville City Council seat.
• New Summerfield City Hall, 13280 State Highway 110 North. Two candidates – incumbent Jane Barrow and challenger Michael Fisher – are seeking the mayoral seat. 
• Rusk City Hall, 116 E.5th St. The District 5 Council seat race attracted two candidates: Incumbent Frances Long and challenger Jan-Michal “Chucky” Pate.
