Bettie Mary Pierce

Bettie Mary Pierce, 67, of Rusk passed away Friday, March 6, in Rusk. She was born in Jacksonville on July 6,1958 to Sallie and Odell Coleman.
Mrs. Pierce worked at Rusk State Hospital for 26 years. After retirement she continued working as a secretary for River of Life Christian Center in Rusk.
Bettie loved to read, pray and study the word of God. She loved trips with her bestie, Ronda and being around her family. She was a collector of all kinds of pens, and her smile warmed every heart it shined upon. She was a faithful member of River of Life Christian Center for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sallie and Odell Coleman; her husband of 31 years, Michael Dewayne Pierce; brothers, Otis Coleman and H. B. Mitchell, and sisters, Vera Jean Johnson and Sherloyn Tatum.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Cedric Denson and wife, Qutrina Denson of Rusk, daughters Robin Tatum of Jacksonville and Angela Denson of Jacksonville; stepson, Steven Harper and wife, Bergetter Harper of Mesquite; stepdaughter, Lisa Pierce of Dallas; brother, Edward Coleman and wife, Brigettie Coleman of Rowlett; brother in law, Rickey Pierce and wife, Patricia Pierce of Dallas; sister, Carolyn McGowan and husband, Travis McGowan of Rusk; grandsons, Jalon and Davion Denson of Rusk, as well as, Steven Harper Jr, Davian Harper and Kamaras Delaney of Dallas. She was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The viewing will be held from 10am-5pm Friday, March 13 at Mercy-McGowan Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Funeral service will be held, Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m. at River of Life Christian Center in Rusk.
