Rusk city leaders to gather for Feb. 4 special meeting
RUSK – Members of the local city council will meet in special session, 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, to discuss possible action on two items: Selection of an auditing firm in response to a duty issued Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and for an interim service agreement for Rusk Police Department.
Rusk city leaders discussed both items during a Jan. 29 meeting, voting to table action on each until Feb. 4. City Manager Bob Goldsberry was instructed to find out whether the city has recourse to seek an extension for filing the audit and to get a cost lower than the $90,000 fee cited by the sole firm that responded to the RFP.
Council members also requested additional time to study information prepared by Mike Alexander of Lion Organizational Development Institute, which has submitted a proposal to find a new police chief for the city.
The Feb. 4 meeting will be held in the Rusk Council Chambers, located at Rusk City Hall, 116 E. 5th St. in downtown Rusk.
