Area entities to offer free holiday meal

Community Thanksgiving meals will be served free of charge by churches and businesses in Cherokee County in upcoming days.

Wednesday, Nov. 26, offerings include those by:

• Hilltop Baptist Church, 325 Mill St. in Alto; 5:30 p.m. 

• Mercy McGowan Funeral Home, 415 N. Main St. in Jacksonville; meal pick-up/delivery begins at noon. Delivery arrangements can be made with Darren Baxter (903-393-2366) or Darryl McGowan (903-920-5520).

Thanksgiving Day meals being served Thursday, Nov. 27, include those by:

• Truckerz, 1108 S. Jackson St. in Jacksonville, 10 a.m.-noon

• First United Methodist Church, 255 S. Henderson St. in Rusk, noon.

• Bowens Temple Church, 308 N. Bolton St. in Jacksonville, noon-2 p.m.
