Linda Brewer Gibson

Linda Carroll (Brewer) Gibson, 76, of Rusk, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in Jacksonville, TX.  

A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with a graveside service to follow at 1 p.m. at Lone Dove Cemetery near Rusk. Dr. David Appleby will officiate. 

Linda was born on September 23, 1949, to Clyde and Orean (Evans) Brewer in Rusk, Texas. She graduated from Rusk High School in 1967 and married the love of her life, Tommy, on August 12 of that same year. In June of 1972, they welcomed their daughter Jana, and in 2013 their granddaughter Natalie, both of whom were the joy of Linda’s heart. Linda worked as a secretary and office manager in various offices throughout her career. A three-time breast cancer survivor, Linda faced each challenge with remarkable courage and unwavering faith. She was a faithful servant, sharing her musical gifts by playing piano at many churches they attended over the years. Linda found joy in sewing, crocheting, macramé, and ceramics and was known for her home cooking. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Clyde V. Brewer Jr., Roy V. Brewer and Jimmy H. Brewer.  

Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her husband of 58 years, Thomas “Tommy” Gibson of Rusk; daughter, Jana Chvatal and husband Hank of La Porte and granddaughter, Natalie Chvatal. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Pallbearers will be Hank Chvatal, Don Brewer, Jerry Brewer, Jimmy Burke Brewer, Steve Bartro and Milton Carter.
