Jeanne Sandra Tarno

Jeanne Sandra Tarno, 83, of Rusk, TX passed away on May 14, 2025 in Rusk.  She was born May 24, 1941 in Shreveport, LA to J.T. Tarno and Mildred Corine Ramsey.  She was subsequently raised from a young age by Charles L Norton, along with her mother. She graduated high school from La Vega High in Bellmead, TX and went on to earn her bachelor's degree and teaching certificate in Education from Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, TX. Jeanne excelled in many athletics in high school and college. She was a teacher and beloved coach for a number of high schools in Texas. Jeanne was strong in her faith and ministered as a counselor in summer camps from New Mexico to Maine. Always an outdoor lover and a people person, Jeanne was loved by everyone who met her.
She is survived by: sister Carol Senkel (husband Richard); brother Elbert Norton (wife Diane); sister Brenda Rumfield; and brother Calvin (wife Jannett). There are also many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A time of sharing and visiting with her family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 221 West 5th Street, Rusk, TX.  Please, no flowers – instead we encourage a memorial in her honor to a worthy recipient of your choice.
