Burkett to speak on her latest book Monday at Alto Library
Writer and historian Dr. Deborah Burkett PhD, of Mixon is scheduled to discuss her latest book at 2 PM Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Stella Hill Memorial Library located at 158 W. San Antonio Street, on the main block of downtown Alto. The program is being sponsored by the Thursday Study Club, the sponsor of the library, along with the City of Alto. The title of Dr. Burkett's fourth book is “FROM THE ALAMO TO PRESENT DAY TEXAS”.
Dr. Burkett sees herself as a storyteller about Texas history. Two of her previous books were about quilts and spunky Texas women. Among Dr. Burkett's many past and present activities are serving as a current member of the Cherokee County Historical Commission, a past regent of the Jacksonville NSDAR Chapter and being a contributing writer of articles published in the Cherokeean Herald Newspaper.
