James William “Jim” Lott

James William “Jim” Lott, 93, passed away on April 9, 2024 in Houston, Texas. Son of Thomas Jefferson Lott and Emma Olivia Brewer Lott, he was born November 28, 1930, in Wells, Texas.

He met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Ruth Hamilton in 1950. They had three children, Anita Belinda (Wright), Teresa Beth (Olson) and James Kevin.

Jim worked for Humble Oil (later Exxon) in 1957 and quickly moved to the Marketing Department where he eventually began as a Marketing Rep for the Industrial Sales Department. Jim remained with Exxon for 31 years earning many accolades, promotions, and awards.

He retired from Exxon in 1986 and later accepted a position with H&W Petroleum where he would also market Exxon products. He remained there a number of years until he truly retired so he and Dorothy could travel more and to spend extra time with his grandsons. Jim and Dorothy were long-time active members of their beloved Sagemont Church.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by Dorothy his precious wife of 69 years. He is survived by his brother, Tommy Wayne Lott and his wife Sherry; three children; sons-in-law, Rudy Wright and Dave Olson; daughter-in-law, Linda Lott; and five grandsons, Jonathan Wright, Adam Lott, Joshua Lott and David Lott, Patrick Knox and granddaughter, Jennifer Knox-Trott all of whom he was extremely proud. Jim was truly cherished by his wife, brother, his children, and grandchildren and many friends. He will be very missed by all.

The funeral will be held at Peavey/Niday Funeral Home,12440 Beamer Road in Houston. The visitation will start at 9:00 AM and the funeral will be at 10:00. The burial will be at 2:30 PM at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells, Texas.
