Charles (Charlie) Dean Felder passed away on March 6, 2024 in Jacksonville, Texas. He was born December 15, 1933 to William Ernest Felder and Ina Belle Jones Felder of Cold Springs outside of Alto, Texas.

He attended Alto High School and graduated in 1951. He married Joan Davis on December 18, 1952 at the Cold Springs Methodist Church. They had two sons, Ricky and Deanie and raised their sons both in Alto and for several years in Charlotte, North Carolina. The couple also lived and worked in Houston for many years. While they may have lived elsewhere during their lifetime, Alto was always home.

After Charlie’s retirement from 51 years with Kalman Floor Company in June 2004 and Joan’s retirement from her travel business, the couple built their current home in Alto where they lived until his passing. Charlie loved and cherished his wife deeply and was so very proud of his family. Charlie loved watching professional football, particularly the Texans or the cowboys.

Charlie also loved a good western movie, and if you didn’t find Charlie watching a game, you could bet he was working in his yard.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Willam Ernest Felder and Ina Belle Jones Felder and his granddaughter Jorjan Felder.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 71 years, Joan Davis Felder; their two sons Ricky Felder and wife Shane Felder and Deanie Felder; their 4 grandchildren: Katie Beatty and husband Shawn Beatty, Michael Felder, Kelsey Goodwin and husband Bryar Goodwin, and Sarah Cruz and husband Nick Cruz; their great-grandchildren: Jordan Henderson and wife Sky Henderson, Jayme Pace, Laret Neal, Colby Neal, Ember Beatty, Charley Beatty, and Colson Cruz; and their great-great grandchildren: Kamdyn Henderson, Silas Jaymes Deleon, and Blakely Henderson.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 11 at the A. Frank Smith Methodist Church in Alto with County Judge Chris Davis and Rev. John Cogdill officiating.
