Inclement weather to impact southern end of Cherokee County
National Weather Service – Shreveport has issued a special weather statement, 3:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, stating that "Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Alto – or 13 miles southeast of Rusk – moving west at 20 miles per hour. Strong winds between 40 and 50 MPH will be possible with this storm."
Locations impacted include Rusk, Alto, Morrill, Sacul, Forest, Douglass, Maydelle, Linwood, Lilbert and Looneyville, according to NWS.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
